KYC is step 3 of the account setup checklist. Document requirements by business type are also listed in Get Started With ClickPesa.
How to access KYC settings
- Log in to the Merchant Dashboard.
- Open Settings and select KYC.
Before you start
- Your business type is set during registration and shown under Settings → General. It cannot be changed from the dashboard. Requirements depend on the type on your account.
- Have registration documents ready. Sample templates and forms are available for download in the KYC page.
- For each required beneficial owner (UBO), you will upload identity documents (NIDA, Voter’s ID, Driving Licence, or Passport) for directors, shareholders, partners, trustees, or other roles listed for your business type.
Submission steps
- Review required business documents and UBO sections shown for your business type.
- Upload each required document.
- Complete any required forms (for example board resolution or ClickPesa Terms and Conditions) with signatures, seal, and witness where stated.
- If prompted, complete KYC search payment before your submission is reviewed.
- Submit for compliance review.
Restrictions before KYC approval
Until KYC is approved:- Transaction limit: TZS 100,000 total combined across collections, payouts, deposits, and withdraws in TZS. A separate limit applies to USD activity.
- When the limit is reached: You can still view your account and complete KYC, but payouts, collections, and other payment actions are paused until verification is approved.
- Card collections: Card payment methods cannot be enabled until KYC is complete.
- Other collection channels: Some online collection channel activations require KYC before they can be enabled.
- API usage: 100 API calls per day, including token generation. Resets at midnight East Africa Time (EAT). Removed after KYC approval.
- You receive a notification when you reach half of your transaction limit.
