You can now send money to any Lipa Namba or TanQR in Tanzania, instantly.
This API pays out to someone else’s Lipa Namba or TanQR. Collecting payments via your own TanQR/Lipa Namba is a separate product — see TanQR/Lipa Namba.
Preview checks the destination, the recipient’s name, the fee, and your balance. Then create sends the payout. Pay from TZS or USD (currency). Recipients always receive TZS. When you pay from USD, preview and create responses include exchanged and exchange. Provide exactly one destination:
  • lipaNamba + providerCode (from the providers list), or
  • qrCode (full TanQR string containing tz.go.bot.tips)
Preview runs a name lookup. If the beneficiary name cannot be resolved, preview fails — do not create until preview succeeds.
Create Lipa Namba Payout allows one create request every 60 seconds per merchant. Creating another payout before the cooldown ends returns an error with the remaining wait time. Preview is not affected.
Lipa Namba payouts are asynchronous. Treat create AUTHORIZED as accepted, not settled. Notify on acceptance, then send a second notification when status is SUCCESS or REFUNDED. See Payout statuses.

Retrieve supported providers and their providerCode values. Required when paying with lipaNamba.
Step 3 - Validate Payout Details

Preview Lipa Namba Payout

Validates the Lipa Namba or TanQR, resolves the beneficiary name, and returns fee and balance impact.
Step 4 - Initiate Lipa Namba Payout

Create Lipa Namba Payout

Initiate the payout. The specified amount is transferred to the recipient’s Lipa Namba.
Step 5 - Check Payout Status

Check Payout Status

Query the payout status using the Order Reference. Filter all payouts with channel=TIPS LIPA NAMBA.
