What is TanQR/Lipa Namba? A: TanQR/Lipa Namba gives your business a Lipa Namba and QR code for collecting payments. Customers can scan your QR code or pay using your Lipa Namba through mobile money USSD menus and bank channels. It is powered by TIPS, with all MNOs and banks integrated.
Is TanQR/Lipa Namba the same as BillPay? A: No. Use TanQR/Lipa Namba when customers scan your QR code or pay using your Lipa Namba through USSD and bank channels. Use BillPay when customers pay with control numbers for deposits, orders, invoices, or customer-specific references. See the Integration Guides for a full comparison.
Do customers need an app to pay? A: No. Customers can pay using your Lipa Namba through mobile money USSD menus and bank channels without an app. They can also scan your QR code from a mobile money or bank app if they prefer.
Do I need a separate QR code for each MNO or bank? A: No. Your Lipa Namba and QR code work across all MNOs and banks integrated with TIPS.
Does the customer enter the amount? A: Yes. The customer enters the amount and confirms the payment. For amount-specific or automated QR flows, contact support@clickpesa.com.
Where do I find my Lipa Namba after activation? A: Log in to the Merchant Dashboard, go to Settings → Collection, and look under TANQR - Lipa Namba. Your Lipa Namba is shown when the method is active. You can also open View Details & QR Code to see your full registration details and poster.
How do I print or display my QR code? A: After activation, use View Details & QR Code in Collection settings and click Download TanQR Poster. You can print it for a physical store or share the QR code and Lipa Namba online.
How fast do I receive the money? A: Lipa Namba payments are processed in real time. Successful payments show up immediately in your ClickPesa dashboard and trigger notifications.
What do I need before I can activate Lipa Namba? A: You need completed KYC, a filled-in business profile, and payment of the 250,000 TZS activation fee. See the full setup guide for step-by-step instructions.
I don’t see TanQR in my dashboard. What should I do? A: TanQR/Lipa Namba is available to selected merchants during the rollout. Email support@clickpesa.com to request access or ask about availability for your account.
Can I use Lipa Namba for online sales? A: Yes. During registration you can choose Online Store and provide your store URL. Your Lipa Namba and QR code can be displayed on your website, checkout page, invoice, or shared digitally. For checkout flows that need a fixed amount per order, contact ClickPesa support.
